چکیده

Cluster analysis is a type of exploratory that used for classifying unknown individuals into groups members share certain similarity. Grouping breeding materials different clusters based on their performances under given condition allows plant breeders to select lines more efficiently. This study aimed group performance water stress conditions using cluster analysis. The experiment was conducted in RCB design with 3 blocks. Fifty maize inbred were grown and exposed conditions. Twenty-four phenotypic traits collected some them subjected Partitioning Around Medoid algorithm 50 from chosen phenotypes. validation then carried out subsequent by testing the statistically significant differences between tolerant susceptible clusters. According analysis, 4 numbers obtained. Lines no. showed most tolerance compared other In contrast, 1 susceptible. results another year also supported this result. Therefore, we concluded clustering method an efficient way differentiate lines. Furthermore, suggested height, tassel size, spikelet density, days silking, anthesis-silking interval secondary could be selection drought maize.

Physiological and proteomic analysis of the response to drought stress in an inbred Korean maize line

Understanding the response of a crop to water deficiency is the first step towards breeding drought-tolerant varieties. In this study, inbred maize (Zea mays L.) line KS140 was subjected to drought stress by withholding water for 10 days at the V5 or V6 leaf stage. Water-deficient plants experienced a decrease in relative leaf water content, stomatal conductance, net CO2 assimilation rate, and ...

study of drought tolerance indices in maize inbred lines under limited irrigation and normal conditions

abstract in order to genetic investigation of drought resistance indices, on 25 maize inbred lines, an experiment was conducted under three irrigation regimes; normal irrigation, limited vegetative irrigation and limited reproductive irrigation. in the limited vegetative irrigation, tol (stress tolerance) index had the highest phenotypic and genotypic coefficient of variation (83.83% and 68.04%...

Evaluation of drought tolerance in rice (Oryza sativa L.) cultivars and recombinant inbred lines

In order to study the adaptation of rice lines to drought stress and to identify the tolerant and sensitive lines, 150 pure lines in RIL population each derived from a cross between two Iranian rice varieties Gharib and Sepidroud were investigated. Augment design based on the randomized complete block design (RCBD) was used with 6 check cultivars and 4 replications in 2013-2014 growing season. ...

Selection for Drought Tolerance in Two Tropical Maize Populations

Drought is a major factor limiting maize (Zea mays L.) yield in much of the world. The need to breed maize cultivars with improved drought tolerance is apparent. This study compared two maize populations, ZM601 and ZM607 for drought tolerance during flowering, the most drought-vulnerable period for the maize plant. Cultivar ZM601 had been improved through recurrent selection for two cycles for ...

Breeding Maize for Drought Tolerance in the US Corn-Belt

The objective of this review is to promote discussion on some of the key issues we consider to be involved in successful long-term genetic improvement of corn for drought tolerance. Many of the concepts have been discussed elsewhere for different crops, traits and different breeding targets. Here we focus on how to organize a comprehensive effort to enable breeding for drought tolerance in a he...
